Motor Control ADC w 8Ch & 16Bit – New Product Monday

This new product Monday comes with a new 16Bit 8Ch ADC for motor control applications – the LTC2320-16.

LTC2320-16

Motor control ADC LTC2320-16

8Ch and 4 ADC’s ideal for motor control

The LTC2320-16 is suited for motor control applications but also communication and high speed data acquisition systems. This brings the need of a high sampling rates to your ADC. To not be forced to use several ADC’s in your design this ADC comes with 8 channels and 4 ADC’s in one package. This means 2 channels per ADC and brings 1.5MSPS per channel – which is really a lot.

Simultaneous Sampling

To be able to measure for example in motor control applications the current and the voltage at the same time its necessary to have the S&H stage before the multiplexer. To address this topic the LTC2320-16 has 8 sample and hold stages right before the multiplexer.

True Differential Inputs

In high current applications there can be the case of floating grounds. With unipolar ADC’s there is the problem that these floating grounds highly influence the signal that the ADC’s captures. With differential inputs the ADC signal is not influenced by these disturbances. The LTC2320-16 comes with 8 differential inputs and also a very wide 8Vpp common mode range.

Signal Integrity and Noise

The plot below shows the SNR, THD, SINAD and SFDR of the ADC. The INL for this ADC is typically at 2LSB and the red dot marking indicates that this is guaranteed for the whole temperature range.

Demo Board and Samples

Due to the fact that this product is a brand new one, there is at the moment no eval board but there will be one soon! It will be then posted at the product website under “Demoboards” as well as the pricing under order info.
