LTSpice got a new Windows version last year – its out a while now but nevertheless I want to focus on it today and some new features which might be of interest for you and improve your way you work with LTSpice.

Multi Monitor Support

A thing that really helps a lot is the new multi monitor support. Now you can put your schematic window on one screen and the simulation plot on the other. This is a feature which I really loved since I used it on my Mac but always missed on my Windwos machines. Now its available on Windows machines also.

Additional Model Folders in LTSpice

This is for me a very important new feature! When working in larger groups it was always kind of a pain to get the model folders up to date when you are doing your own models. You had to copy it on a server folder and then copy it to your local folder on your hard drive. This times are over now. In the settings you will find a new field which lets you define additional search paths for models. This can be a network folder or a different folder on your PC somewhere – lots less pain for your engineering team!

Additional LTSpice Features

There was some more that has been introduced in the new version and above I wanted to mention the most important once that really improve or change your work with LTSpice. The other new features are:

  • 64Bit Support
  • New device equations(e.g. IGBT, diode soft recovery, and an arbitrary state machine)
  • UNICODE(use any character of any living language in schematics, netlists, or plot)

You can download it directly from the LTC website : LTSpice

There is also a yahoo users group which is a good resource for you if you want to dig deeper: Yahoo LTSpice User Group
